We are also a trained provider of The John Muir Award Scheme. The John Muir Award was launched in 1997 by the John Muir Trust. The award scheme encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to connect with, enjoy and care for the planet's wild places.
The Award sets out four challenges for participants. The aim of which is to demonstrate awareness, understanding and action.
To achieve the award, participants can engage in a range of activities that support the four challenges:
Discover a wild place
Explore its wildness
Conserve a wild place
Share your experiences
There are three levels to the award that encourage a progressive involvement. The Discovery, Explorer and Conserver Award and each requires an increased involvement in terms of time, activity, responsibility and ownership.
The award is designed for older children and adults of all abilities in order to be fully inclusive. You don't even have to do any written work if you so choose! It's a great way to get to know your local wild places, have fun and meet new people. We can tailor the award for individuals, family groups, schools, youth groups etc. On completion all participants receive a nationally recognised certificate of their achievement.
